How we got to New York
The story of GuidoMaggi is a journey that began in Salento and has now reached the heart of
SoHo, New York. It spans more than a century, filled with tradition, rebirths, and international success. It all started in 1919, when Guido Maggi, a master shoemaker from Ruffano (Lecce province), founded the company that bore his name. Handmade shoes of impeccable quality, which even back then were synonymous with style and elegance. When he passed away in 1945, the business came to a halt and remained silent for more than fifty years.
But great stories never truly end. In 2010, Emanuele Briganti, the founder’s great-grandson and the fourth generation of the family, decided to bring the dream back to life, together with his father Giuseppe. A revolutionary idea was born: to create luxury shoes with an invisible internal elevator, designed to discreetly increase height without sacrificing comfort, elegance or style. An intuition that rewrote the rules and made the brand a global benchmark in the luxury segment.
From the workshop in Casarano, at the heart of Salento’s shoemaking district, GuidoMaggi shoes have conquered more than 90 countries, growing at a double-digit pace with exports accounting for over 70% of revenues. After opening showrooms in Lecce, Milan, Malaga, and Tokyo, New York represents the ultimate milestone in this journey.
First announced by the CEO back in 2019, the SoHo showroom is not just a new location: it is the symbol of GuidoMaggi’s international expansion and proof that an idea born in Salento can indeed conquer the world.

SoHo: the perfect American home for GuidoMaggi
Opening a showroom in SoHo was no coincidence it was a statement of style. This Manhattan district is the beating heart of innovation, an urban laboratory where trends are born and shaped before they influence the rest of the world. Its streets lined with industrial lofts transformed into ateliers, cutting-edge boutiques, and contemporary art galleries embody the essence of uncompromising metropolitan elegance.
“SoHo is a place that breathes creativity and boldness, just like GuidoMaggi. – it’s what Emanuele Briganti says – Here, uniqueness is an absolute value: the same principle that guides us when we create made-to-measure elevator shoes, blending the luxury of handcrafted excellence with the invisible innovation of the internal elevator system. Entering this district means stepping into a world that celebrates individuality, personality, and authentic quality the very pillars that have defined our brand for over a century.”
GuidoMaggi perfectly fits into the ongoing dialogue between fashion, art, and lifestyle that animates the streets of SoHo, acting as the perfect intersection between Italian elegance and New York’s cosmopolitan energy. “For us, SoHo is more than just an address: it s an international stage where we can best showcase our style and welcome those who wish to experience exclusive, tailor-made luxury.”
